What is ALICE?
ALICE is the name for Ohio University's library catalog. In other words, it is a database that lists the following kinds of items in our library collections: + Expand
- books
- periodicals (magazines, journals, and newspapers)
- Please note: ALICE is not an index to individual periodical articles. Although you can connect to electronic periodicals through ALICE, to locate specific articles, you should look for article databases/indexes in our InfoTree system. Academic Search Premier is a good place to start looking for articles, but InfoTree lists many other databases as well.
- videorecordings
- sound recordings
- government documents
- electronic resources (databases, online journals, websites, etc.)
...and much else besides
ALICE includes information not only for the Athens campus, but for all of the regional campuses as well. You can use ALICE's Limit this Search function to limit your search results to specific locations.
What is OhioLINK?

Students, faculty members, and staff members affiliated with OhioLINK institutions can request books online, view journal articles online, search authoritative databases, and make use of other OhioLINK services that enhance research and education.
