Library Card

Current Students
A valid Ohio University student ID card is needed to borrow materials from the library. (ID card photos may be taken at Student Services during regular business hours. Temporary ID's will be valid until a photo ID arrives.)

Community Patrons
Community patron library card policies are as follows:

Community Patron Restricted $1.00
Patron may borrow books from the Ohio University-Lancaster book collection

Community Patron Non-Restricted $10.00
Patron may borrow books located within the entire Ohio University Libraries system

Friends of the Library - Individual $20.00
Patron may borrow books located within the entire Ohio University library system. Books may also be requested from other member colleges and universities through the OhioLINK Central Catalog,

Limit of Check Out
The limit on the number of items you can borrow depends on what the materials are and where they are housed. For all intents and purposes, there is not a limit on the number of items that students, faculty and staff can borrow from the general collection.

The limit on the number of items you can borrow from the OhioLINK Central Catalog is as follows:

Faculty
up to 200 items
Staff
up to 200 items
Graduates
up to 200 items
Undergraduates
up to 25 items
Friends of the Library up to 5 items

Renewing Materials

Before Due Date
Patrons may renew books before the due date by doing one of three things:

  1. Ask at the circulation desk
  2. Online - View Your Circulation Record
  3. Over the phone: 740-654-6711 x221
  4. Toll-free within the 740 & 614 area codes: 888-44604468 x221

After Due Date
Patrons may renew books after the due date by bringing the book into the library and rechecking it out.

*Note: Items which have been recalled or on hold for another patron, or are needed for course reserve, cannot be renewed.

Returning Materials

Inside Book Drop
The inside book drop is located at the Circulation desk.

*Note: Any books borrowed through OhioLINK, even those borrowed while at another campus, may be returned to the Circulation desk.

Outside Book Drop
The outside book drop is located on the sidewalk near the north side entrance of Brasee Hall.
