OSHA’s Record Keeping Rule Seminar will be offered March 25, 2010, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Room 414, Brasee Hall, Lancaster Campus.
The course will prepare students for  OSHA’s new focus on record keeping, including how to interpret the record keeping standard, what a business or organization needs to do to comply, forms used and how to complete them, maintaining employees’ privacy, whether an incident needs to be reported or merely recorded, record keeping audits, the difference between medical treatment and first aid and why it matters, if a case requires restricted work activity or days away from work and how to record the number of days, and an explanation of the terms used in record keeping.
Brenda Hawkey, Safety Professional with 19 years of safety experience in manufacturing, construction, nonprofit, education and municipalities, will instruct the course. She is a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and has served as a safety consultant to small and large companies. A former adjunct professor at Sinclair Community College, Hawkey owns Sheridan-Clay BCS and is co-partner with Machine Safety Specialists. She also is authorized to train in the OSHA 10- and 30-hour general industry and construction.
According to Kathy Holt, who coordinates the testing center and contracts at the Lancaster Campus, a partnership has been established with the Mid-America OSHA Education Center. “We are very excited about the opportunity to bring OSHA training to our Campus to help our community partners fulfill their safety and training requirements. By partnering with Mid-America OSHA Education Center, Ohio University Lancaster Campus has the opportunity to become a regional OSHA Training Institute Education Center (OTIEC) host.”
The cost of the OSHA Record Keeping Rule Seminar is $200 per person, which includes all materials. For more information or to register for the class, contact Maryann Lape at 740.654.6711, ext. 249, or lape@ohio.edu or visit www.lancaster.ohiou.edu.
