Computer Science Technology

The computer revolution is changing our way of life--from the way we work and live to the way we spend our leisure time. Essentially, the computer is transforming the way we communicate, do business, and learn. An explosion of informational and technological advances is accelerating this change.

The Computer Science Technology (CTCH) associate degree program at Ohio University Lancaster (OUL) addresses the informational and technological needs of today's computer world. This program prepares the student for entry-level positions in network administration, computer programming, or web page design in business, industry, and government. The CTCH program provides a business approach to the computing profession that emphasizes the principles of quality planning and development.

CTCH majors become well versed in using computer technologies to address the information needs of businesses. We study how to plan, design, code, test, and debug computer programs and how to effectively use common business applications.

Hands on projects and training in OUL's state-of-the-art computer labs provide the student with the opportunity to work in an environment that prepares them for today's workforce. Using projects and team concepts, the course work emphasizes critical thinking and problem solving skills that emulate real world computer applications.

Students may attend classes on either a full-time or part-time basis. Course work is offered during the day, evening, and weekend to accommodate the students' personal life and work schedule.

CTCH graduates may continue their education on the Lancaster campus and earn a bachelor's degree in General Business, Organizational Communications, Specialized Studies, or Technical and Applied Studies. Graduates may also relocate to the Athens campus and pursue a bachelor's degree in General Business or Communication Systems Management
