Traditionally, a career in the field of Electronic Media meant working at a radio or television station, or an independent audio or video production house. Today, advances in digital communications technology have expanded those options into almost every possible industry!
Hospitals and healthcare, automobile sales, and fast food (yes, fast food!); these industries are tapping into new methods of reaching their respective audiences, and they need highly skilled multimedia professionals to do it.
The Electronic Media, (EM) program at Ohio University Lancaster prepares students for entry level positions in the multimedia industry by teaching vital skills in video production/post-production, audio mixing/recording, graphic and web design, live sound reinforcement, 2D/3D animation and CD and DVD authoring. Students will get hands-on experience with the industry standards of hardware and software on the Mac and Windows platforms.
While the Electronic Media Program is a self-contained two-year Associates of Applied Science program, students wishing to continue their academic studies can go on to complete a Bachelors degree at OUL in Technical and Applied Sciences or Organizational Communication, where the AAS in Electronic Media counts as two years of relevant study, or they can transfer to the main campus in Athens, to continue their academic career toward a Bachelors in Telecommunications.
