Masters Programs

A degree awarded after one to two year's of post-graduate study.

The graduate bulletin for Ohio University lists all graduate programs held at Ohio University ; however, only selected programs are held on the Lancaster Campus. We offer master's level programs on a "site/date" basis, i.e., selected degrees can be completed at the Lancaster Campus site between established start/finish dates. Past programs include Social Sciences, Elementary and Special Education, Mathematics, and Political Science (Public Administration), Educational Administration, Counselor Education, and Journalism.

Master's of Engineering Management
This program started at OU Lancaster and OU Pickerington Spring Quarter 2003.

This program started spring quarter 2003. Pending sufficient applicants and approval by the Ohio Board of Regents.

Overview
This program is designed for individuals holding undergraduate degrees in engineering, physics, or equivalent degrees. This program develops appropriate skills for the management of technology-based companies. The student will enroll in a set of core courses emphasizing skills required of technology managers including course work in information technology and quality management.

All applicants must meet the academic requirements for graduate study in the Russ College of Engineering and Technology. Successful completion of all degree requirements will result in the awarding of the M.S. Degree.

Format
The program began in the Spring Quarter 2003; two courses are offered each quarter until completion. Classes will be held on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings, utilizing the compressed video facilities at Ohio University-Lancaster.

This program is tentatively scheduled to start Spring Quarter 2003 and end Spring Quarter 2005 (2 years plus 1 quarter). You will take a total of 15 classes. Classes are scheduled Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarter. During the Summer of 2004, there will be 1 project/report class.

You DO NOT need a bachelor in Engineering to participate in this degree program, however, be prepared for a quantitative program.

Rural Principal Preparation Program - Educational Administration
This program started at OU Lancaster/Zanesville Summer of 2002. This degree is offered periodically.

This is a collaborative program between Ohio University Lancaster and Ohio University-Zanesville. This means one quarter the program will meet at Ohio University Lancaster and the next quarter it will meet at Ohio University Zanesville.

The Program Preparing leaders for the schools of southeastern Ohio ,the Rural Principals program combines an innovative instructional format with a curriculum attuned to the realities of practice.

Special features of the program include:

-Focus on new paradigms of leadership and stewardship

-Field-based learning

-Learning within a supportive community of peers

To meet the needs of working professionals, the program uses formats that emphasize the practical relevance of theory and research. During the academic year, students participate in internships and reflect on their internship experiences in seminars and workshops. Providing important background on such topics as school law and finance, summer courses are offered in a more traditional format.

Working together as a cohort, students complete the program in two years. Successful completion of the program leads to the M.Ed. degree plus a recommendation for certification as an Ohio school principal, upon passage of PRAXIS.

Started in January 2004, this unique program, not offered by any other university or college in Ohio , will be offered at Ohio University-Pickerington Center. All classes are staffed by the same full-time faculty members who teach at Ohio University main campus in Athens . The curriculum is based on the Candidate Body of Knowledge developed by the Association for Investment Management and Research (AIMR). AIMR awards the Chartered Financial Analyst, CFA, designation to those who pass a series of three written examinations covering the Candidate Body of Knowledge. Classes will be taught in finance, accounting, and economics.

Master's of Business Administration - Professional MBA Program (Regional Campuses)
The Ohio University Professional MBA Program is designed to meet the needs of emerging business leaders in Southeastern and Southern Ohio . The program offers coursework leading to the MBA degree in a manageable part-time format.

This program blends online learning with three face-to-face residencies and is specifically designed for interscholastic athletic directors and other athletic professionals (those who are involved with interscholastic athletics in some other position who are interested in becoming an athletic director). Master's of Leadership in Educational Administration (MLEA)
The MLEA program provides graduate level professional education for school business officials and treasurers employed in PK-12 school systems, as well as business officials at universities and technical and vocational schools. A primary goal of the program is to create a stronger link between school business officials and the students of the schools they serve. It is a cohort-based program lasting 24-months.
