University Outreach & Regional Campuses Relocate Scholarship
The University Outreach & Regional Campuses Relocate Scholarship is a $2500 scholarship. It requires relocation to the Athens Campus as a fulltime student for the Fall Quarter, 2008, and is renewable for one year, providing that a 3.0 g.p.a. is maintained. Click here for the application (online).

The BancOhio Scholarship
BancOne scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time undergraduate on the Lancaster campus. The scholarship is renewable for applicants demonstrating continued advancement.

The Dorothy Ent Coleman Scholarship
Ray and Dorothy Coleman were long-time educators with the Lancaster City School System. Mr. Coleman died approximately 20 years ago; his wife passed away in 1994 after a 29-year teaching career in Lancaster. Mrs. Coleman created a memorial in Mr. Coleman's memory through the Ray Coleman Ecology Center at Lancaster High School. The Dorothy Ent Coleman scholarships serve students at Ohio University Lancaster Campus with above-average scholastic standing and provide an endowment fund from which county graduates may further their college education within their local community. Applicants may be full or part-time undergraduate students maintaining a grade point average of 3.0.

Dean's Upperclass Scholarship
Students eligible for this scholarship are upperclassmen with a 3.3 accumulative average who have completed at least 24 quarter hours. Transfer students are eligible but must be enrolled at least one quarter prior to receiving the award, and have earned a minimum of 12 hours with a 3.3 average. Students must be registered as a full time student on the Lancaster Campus or Pickerington Center to remain eligible for the award.

Dean's Freshman Scholarship
Those eligible to apply must have achieved at least two of the following:
a high school grade point average of 3.5 (B+) or above, rank in the top 25% of their high school graduating class, an Enhanced ACT composite score of at least 24, or a combined SAT score of at least 1,000 or rank as the valedictorian or salutatorian of their high school class. Students must be registered as a full time student on the Lancaster Campus or Pickerington Center to remain eligible for the award.

William Donelly Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to graduates of Lancaster High School attending Ohio University ( Athens or Lancaster).

Fairfield National Bank Scholarship
Students must be graduates of a Fairfield County high school and plan to pursue a degree in business administration. Candidates must attend the Lancaster Campus and have an accumulated grade point average of 3.25. If no appropriate candidates are found at the undergraduate level, students enrolled in the MBA program can be considered.

Freshmen Excellence Scholarship
Incoming freshmen with a composite ACT score of 25 or higher and in the top 20% of their high school graduating class or a 3.7 grade point average will be considered for this full tuition one year renewable scholarship. Students who complete at least 45 credit hours by the end of Spring Quarter of the first year and achieve an OU grade point average of 3.3 will have the scholarship renewed for their second year.

Freshmen Leadership Scholarship
Incoming freshmen with a composite ACT score of 21 or 22, or higher, and in the top 20% of their high school graduating class or a 3.3 grade point average. Applicants must demonstrate leadership achievement in high school through a written essay to be considered for this $1000 scholarship. Students who complete at least 45 credit hours by the end of Spring Quarter of the first year and achieve an OU grade point average of 3.3 will have the scholarship renewed for their second year.

Freshmen Achievement Scholarship
Incoming freshmen with a composite ACT score of 23 or 24, or higher, and in the top 20% of their high school graduating class or a 3.5 grade point average will be considered for this one year half tuition scholarship. Students who complete at least 45 credit hours by the end of Spring Quarter of the first year and achieve an OU grade point average of 3.3 will have the scholarship renewed for their second year.

Suzy L. Geiger Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was endowed in memory of Suzy Gieger by her family, a young woman whose life ended tragically in an auto accident while she was a student at the Lancaster Campus. The preferred recipient will exhibit financial need and may be working to assist with his/her expenses. The Geigers wanted to support a Lancaster Campus student, particularly someone who is helping herself/himself through college.

David Johnston Scholarship
This scholarship was endowed in memory of David Johnston by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. Neal Johnston. David, a helicopter pilot, was killed in Viet Nam in 1972. He had been a student at both Lancaster and Athens, and because he believed so strongly in financing his own education without parental aid, his parents felt this scholarship was a fitting tribute to him. The recipient is selected based on financial need in addition to academic success.

James Karns Mathematics Scholarship
James Karns was a long-time Lancaster Campus faculty member. He joined the faculty with the opening of the first building in 1968, after several years on the Athens Campus. He retired in 1983, although he continued to teach for several years on a part-time basis. Professor Karns will long be remembered as an unusually devoted teacher and respected colleague. Scholarships are awarded in the field of education and mathematics.

Charles Kilburger Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the estate of the late Charles Kilburger, a local businessman and lifelong resident of Fairfield County. Scholarships specifically benefit Fairfield County residents who have attended all four years at a Fairfield County high school.

Betty Menson Scholarship
This endowed scholarship for full- or part-time students was established by Dr. Betty Menson. While serving as Assistant Director and later Director of Student Services at the Lancaster Campus, Dr. Menson saw a need for a scholarship for non-traditional or returning adult students. She set the guidelines for the scholarship to reach out to those students. The award is made to undergraduate students with or without postsecondary background, who are preferably at least 25 years of age, and who can demonstrate academic achievement and financial need. This scholarship has a later deadline of July 31st.

National City Bank Scholarship
Applicants must be a full-time students majoring in Business Administration on the Lancaster Campus. An accumulative grade point average of 2.75 is required for scholarship consideration.

Joan Nixon Freshman and Transfer Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1977 by the estate of the late Florence B. Nixon, a teacher. It was named for her daughter, Joan, who graduated from Ohio University in 1939 with high honors and went back to her hometown of Bremen to teach at the Bremen School for 9 years. She then went to Lancaster where she taught 5th grade at North and Medill elementaries from 1954 until 1968. She died in 1971. Her mother stipulated that the scholarship go to deserving students in need. One scholarship is awarded to students relocating to the Athens Campus. The other scholarship is awarded to the outstanding freshman applicant from Lancaster High School or Fairfield County.

H. Elizabeth Wright Memorial Scholarship for the Performing Arts
This endowed scholarship, established in 1975, is named for the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wright. It is given to theatre majors who aspire to the high standards of theatre demonstrated by Miss Wright. Active in high school theatre as well as in Lancaster Campus productions, Miss Wright was a student at Marymount College of Virginia when she was killed in a plane crash on her way back to college after Thanksgiving. She was to have performed at the Ford Theatre in Washington in a play that had been selected for competition. Because she loved the theatre, her parents felt this scholarship would be an appropriate tribute to her memory. The scholarship recipient is chosen after the academic year has begun.

Baldwin Education Award
This award can be used for tuition, books and any other expense connected with attending Ohio University Lancaster Campus or the Pickerington Center. Priority will be given to non-traditional students with financial need. Students must be enrolled in any college with Teacher Training Track and have a grade point average of 2.75.

Community Bank Scholarship
The Community Bank Scholarship will be awarded to students from Fairfield and Athens counties who attend the Lancaster Campus and pursue undergraduate study in business. Priority will be given to applicants seeking a bachelor’s degree and have achieved a grade point average of 2.5.

Fairfield County Ohio University Alumni Scholarship Fund
Recipients of this scholarship must be residents of Fairfield County unless they are children or grandchildren of members of the Fairfield County Chapter Ohio University Alumni Association. Selection is based on financial need and a minimum grade point average of 2.5

Joan Kirst Gilchrist Award
This scholarship was established to provide an award to an outstanding Accounting Technology student at the Lancaster Campus. To be eligible for the award, the student must have been full-time and completed at least four Accounting Technology courses. Mrs. Gilchrist completed the MBA program at the Lancaster Campus and later received her Certified Public Accountant Certification in 1980. Having completed both undergraduate and masters work at the Lancaster Campus, she also taught accounting courses at the campus for 13 years.

Fred Kalister Endowed Award
Preference for this scholarship will be given to art majors with second preference to English majors. Fred Kalister earned a B.S. in Social Science from John Carroll University , a B.A. and M.A. in English Language from University College , Dublin , Ireland and a Ph.D. in English Literature from Ohio University . An accomplished guitarist, he studied at Berklee College , Boston , MA , for a year and began his career in Ohio University in 1967. Fred was exceptionally dedicated to higher education, his students and particularly the arts. His love of the arts led him to help build the art program at Lancaster and develop an art gallery now known as the Raymond S. Wilkes Gallery for the Visual Arts. In 1979, he helped organize the first Student Art Show. Over the years the show and the number of sponsored awards and prized have grown and the student participants’ work has commanded a distinct respect in every show.

Scott Shepherd Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established to assist those students seeking a degree in Communications. Consideration will be given to applicants with disabilities. Dr. Scott Shepherd was the Director of Student Services from 1978 until 2002. He was also taught courses in the College if Communications and advised Communication students. In 1989 he was recognized with the Distinguished Service Award from the Fairfield County Ohio University Alumni Association. Dr. Shepherd served on the Ohio Rehabilitation Service Commission and had been a member of the Governor’s Council on People with Disabilities. A wheelchair-user since high school, he served on the board of several organizations in Fairfield County that assist people with disabilities. Locally he served on the boards of the Center for Disabilities and Cerebral Palsy and Hospice of Fairfield County.

Herbert Stalter Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in History or the Bachelors of Specialized Studies. Financial need will be considered during the awarding process. Herb Stalter was a non-traditional student at Ohio University Lancaster Campus. He returned to college after retiring from a career in supervision at Northwest Airlines to pursue a passion and love of history. He found college life at Ohio University Lancaster Campus to be fascinating and challenging and told his family and friends that he was probably “living his life backwards”. He passed away from a rare hereditary disease before he could complete his dream of a college degree. His desire was that other students would find as much joy in learning as he did in his adult years.

Richard C & Betty Jo Weiser Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded alternately every other year to business and education majors demonstrating financial need.
