    The Ohio University Professional MBA Program is designed to meet the needs of emerging business leaders. The program offers coursework leading to the MBA degree in a manageable part-time format.

    In this program, you will gain:

      • A better understanding of behavioral and environmental forces in business
      • Greater skill in carrying out effective inquiry and evaluating change
      • A heightened capacity for self-education
      • Improved ability to relate the business entity to economic, political, and social influences.

    The Professional MBA Program develops team management skills, problem solving techniques, and oral and written presentation skills. Application-oriented learning and basic consultancy skills are also addressed. Individuals are given the tools necessary to prepare them for making decisions across a range of specializations in today’s complex global business environment.

    NEW!!! Ph.D. in Higher Education
    The executive Ph.D. in Curriculum in Higher Education is geared toward the full-time working administrator or faculty member who wishes to earn a doctorate in higher education. The fixed program of study covers:

    History, purposes and contexts of higher education
    Higher education management and leadership
    Organizational perspectives
    Teaching and learning
    Research concepts and methods

    Classes are held Friday evenings and Saturdays, five times during each quarter. Summer school courses are part of the curriculum. Graduates of the program serve in faculty and cabinet-level administrative positions in colleges and universities. In addition, this degree serves a limited number of students who wish to develop research skills about Higher Education, regardless of their career ambitions.

    Masters of Arts in Organizational Communication
    The master of arts in organizational communication offered through the Scripps College, School of Communication Studies is intended for students who are seeking an advanced academic degree that focuses on the critical examination and understanding of the role of communication within the processes of organizing, decision making, and problem solving. The courses that compose the program are designed in a manner that combines face-to-face meetings with web-based and other technology-based approaches. The program is designed in such a way that a student can, potentially, complete all requirements in approximately two years.

Superintendent Licensure Program
The program provides its students with an opportunity to become knowledgeable in a substantive manner about the operation of a district. The licensure program, which can be completed in four quarters, focuses on the managerial, planning/leadership, and human relations roles of district leaders. Structured for the working education professional, courses meet two Saturdays during each academic quarter over the course of one year. One course coupled with one internship per quarter during the academic year plus one additional internship in the summer fulfill the requirements for the Ohio Department of Education Superintendency Licensure.

Masters of Education and Principal Preparation
Preparing principals to work in public schools, the Principal Preparation Program brings together cohorts of prospective administrators who undertake course work and internships as a group. The cohorts form supportive networks that enable each participant to receive feedback about his or her development as a leader as well as to give feedback to other members of the group. These support networks tend to remain intact even after course work has been completed and graduates have assumed school leadership positions.

Ed.D. in Educational Administration
This program combines conceptual and field-based study at an advanced level, preparing individuals for intellectual and practical leadership positions in national, state, and local arenas. The weekend doctoral cycle provides a program responsive to the needs of working professionals who desire an advanced degree. Offering classes on Friday evenings and Saturdays, the program enables students to complete all doctoral course work within three years. At the completion of the three-year cycle, students are ready for comprehensive examinations and the dissertation process.

Masters of Engineering Management
The engineering management degree, a specialization of the Master of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering, helps individuals develop and strengthen skills in technology management. The track is ideal for those holding undergraduate degrees in engineering, physics, or other technical fields. Students move as a cohort through a fixed set of classes, learning how to manage engineers, scientists, and technologists in companies, government, and non-profit organizations.

The master of financial economics program in Pickerington is designed for working professionals who desire to advance in financial services. The financial economics curriculum is based on the Candidate Body of Knowledge developed by CFA Institute. CFA Institute awards the Chartered Financial Analyst, CFA, designation to those who pass a series of three written examinations covering the Candidate Body of Knowledge. This part-time, weekend program meets on Saturdays at Ohio University-Pickerington Center. Classes are staffed by faculty members from the Athens campus.

Master of Social Sciences
The Master of Social Sciences (MSS) is an interdisciplinary degree program in the social sciences.  This program is designed to meet the needs of graduate students whose professional employment makes it desirable that they study two or more subjects within the social sciences to earn the master’s degree.  Though many students have been public school teachers, candidates from other occupations may apply to the program if the study would be to their professional advantage.  There will be a 20% tuition scholarship (excludes general fee) for students enrolled in this program, provided they maintain a “B” average.  This discount would be applied after any outside source tuition discounts and applies only to the MSS courses in the cohort.
